Mission
The Faculty Senate will serve as the voice of the faculty in college affairs in order to reflect transparency, trust, and shared governance. The Senate serves as a consensus reaching body which will represent the views of the faculty concerning the best ways to serve our students and community. The focus of the faculty senate will include issues such as academic policies and procedures, curriculum planning and implementation, evaluation, faculty grievance, and any other affairs deemed of special interest to the faculty.
The Faculty Senate at the college is the construct for the establishment of shared-governance at the college. All full-time curriculum faculty with at least two-thirds teaching responsibility are voting members. Adjunct faculty are welcomed non-voting members of the Senate and are invited to attend the meetings. The Faculty Senate is a vehicle by which faculty become part of the decision-making process at the college. Members address issues and concerns and promote policies and procedures that enhance the institutional functions. The Senate infuses new ideas that impact the college and promote a learner-centered environment.
Faculty Senate meetings are generally held at 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on the third Friday of each month in Salon A at the Old Charlotte Highway Campus.
